Lip Blushing

Lip Blushing

Lip blushing is a form of semi-permanent makeup. It's a cosmetic tattoo that enhances the the natural lip color and provides shape and definition. This procedure is not the same as fillers. Although fillers do give a fuller look, lip blush gives you the illusion of a fuller lip.

The process: lip blush is created by using a mechanical needle that deposits pigment into the lips. To get the blush natural effect, layers of pigment are built on the lips. This service can last several years but can also vary depending on the individual. Typical smokers, sun lovers and individuals with oily skin will experience more touch-ups as the lips will fade quicker than usual. Similar to other semi permanent services, numbing cream is applied to the area to avoid discomfort.

During the healing process you should avoid ibuprofen and aspirin. These medications have the ability to cause sensitivity and are known as blood thinners. It's also good to note that this service takes anywhere between one hour to an hour-and-a-half and can cost anywhere between $500-$1500 depending on the location.

Post care: 24 hours after the service you may want to avoid using vitamin E or fish oil. It is also necessary to use a wet cloth or cotton pad to remove any surfaced fluids to prevent lip scabbing. The serviced area will swell and scab but the scab will fall off naturally. However, its important to get this service around a time you do not have to be outdoors. Avoid picking the scars as they create pigment loss in the skin. All workouts should be postponed for 2 weeks.

Once the procedure is done, the lips will look very vibrant as if the client is wearing a lip stain but do not be alarmed. The healing process takes 4 weeks and should reflect your natural lip color after that time. Touch-ups are usually recommended at 6 weeks to alter the shape of the lips and to fill in pigment. However, this option is not necessary.

Research is required to ensure you have the proper technician that is knowledgeable in semi-permanent makeup. Social media is not the proper place to research the right technician so checking recent reviews will help. Also, if you have medical conditions such as herpes or cold sore outbreaks, it is imperative that you notify the technician to avoid outbreak on the lips and prolonged healing.
